Abhijit

"There are still so many beautiful things to be said

in C major."

Sergei Prokofiev

Being a part of a Tamizh music band and not knowing the language, Abhijit ends up talking mostly in C major.

His interest in music started at a very young age. He was enormously influenced by his father's love for music. Amazed by his father's talent for playing multiple instruments, he decided to try his fingers at the harmonium. Over the years, Abhijit has played harmonium and keyboard at cultural festivals and various social gatherings. Most of his solo performances comprised of old and melodious Hindi film songs.

In 2000, Abhijit met with music enthusiasts from Thillana at the time of the band's inception. This opened a whole new world of music. He draws great inspiration from his band peers and aspires to perform at the same level of perfection and agility. Though, Abhijit does not speak or understand the language, he is not only undeterred but enjoys performing Tamil numbers. He was affectionately re-christened Machchi

Abhijit enjoys all forms of Indian music, and in particular old Hindi film songs, Ghazals and Hindustani Classical. He is a huge fan of Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, R.D. Burman, Kishore Kumar and Jagjit Singh.
