Panch How do you play a 4-bar drum break in 6/4 time. without counting like mad? Play 6 bars of 4/4. "It's much simpler and will really impress the rest of the band" -Charlie Morgan Panch plays an exotic drum called the djembe. It is a goatskin drum that originates from West Africa and is gaining popularity in world music for its crossover appeal between the African culture and rest of the world. Panch, with this powerful drum, seamlessly cross -weaves the Ragas and the Reggaes into intense beats In addition to the Djembe, he also plays a variety of percussion instruments. He has been learning Tabla for the past 2-3 years from Shri Arshad Syed. This show, he will be manning the pads too. Panch has a very good voice and has sung quite a few lilting melodies in the past shows. Even though he has had no vocal training, he has a discerning ear for music. He is extremely rhythm-oriented, seeing it in even simple things like the dripping of a faucet. Thillana practically shares the rights of Panch and his wife Revathi’s house. Most of the practice sessions take place at their home. Gaining more experience with each show, Panch drums his beats out to glory |
